I’ve been slowly building up my fleet of road power for the layout, and this is my most recent addition. It’s a very early Kato model that I painted, detailed, and weathered to represent PC 2267. I installed a Loksound decoder and iPhone speaker, and I’m calling this one “done.”
I had it over at my friend Bob Fallowfield’s place today. He put the most recent sound files onto it for me, and we messed around with some basic settings to get it running and sounding great. Here’s a shot of it posed on my layout.
Great looking work! What did you use for weathering on this beauty?

Thanks Steve. I started with a wash ‘dirty white’ artist oil paints. When that was dry, I used Pan Pastels and then Dullcoat.

Hey Hunter,
Love all the detailing and weathering you performed on this unit. I just picked up some pan-pastels, I’m going to start on some box cars and build some skills.
Best, Scott

Thanks Scott. I wasn’t sure if any of the details and weathering were noticeable.
