I was in Indiana last week, passing through on the way to Chicago, so I took advantage of the opportunity to meet up with my new friend Tom Johnson. Aside from an obvious interest in trains, Tom and I are both educators, artists, and dog lovers, though Tom’s accomplishments eclipse mine on every front.
In the unlikely event that you haven’t seen Tom’s proto-freelanced Logansport & Indiana Northern, check it out here. Tom is dabbling in modelling the prototype Erie Western, but I’m under the impression that the freelance L&IN is in no danger of being left behind.
I had planned to take away more photos of the layout, as there’s more to it than what’s already been documented. I’ll leave it to him to Tom to decide how and when that will happen. It suffices to say that the conversation and sharing of ideas was a better way to spend our time. As I drove away, I realized that we didn’t even run a train. I guess we got sidetracked.
